Embracing the Truth of Forgiveness

“But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”

I John 4:4

Jesus warns us in John 10:10 that “the thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy”. Then He assures us that “His own purpose is to give you a rich and satisfying life.” Satan would like nothing better than to steal our joy, kill our relationships, and destroy the good that God intends when we restore fellowship that has been lost.

The Spirit’s work in our lives results in peace, joy, and unity. But satan will do anything to keep us from experiencing those pleasures. Satan is a liar, who whispers in our ear that it is impossible to forgive. He taunts us with the pain of offense committed against us. He antagonizes us with the lies of betrayal and deceit. The devil wants nothing more than to keep us separated from those we do life with because when we are isolated, we are easy prey; “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour” (I Peter 5:8).

But no, in all these things we are more than conquerors in Christ (Romans 8:37). God has equipped us and empowered us to stand against the schemes of the devil. He has given us full armor and stands with us on the front lines of battle.

When Jesus gave up his spirit on the cross, the curtain to the temple was torn, the earth shook, rocks split, and tombs were opened (Matthew 27:51). At that moment, we were guaranteed that nothing will ever separate us from His love or His power. Christ’s suffering and resurrection made certain that Satan’s lies will be destroyed and that we would be empowered to conquer the enemy.

Praying God’s Word back to Him, is a powerful weapon against the enemy. Today, focus on His Truth as you pray these Scriptures back to God, asking him to help you conquer the devil’s plan to keep you separated from the ones you hold in contempt. Ask Him to reveal the lies that the devil is telling you, to soften your heart, and to break down the strongholds of your own logic so you can embrace His Truth, His promises of peace, and His principles of unity.

We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments”.

2 Corinthians10:3-5

“Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world”.

Ephesians 6:11-12

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength”.

Philippians 4:13

12 words

The truth about our offenders reveals the lies that keep us apart.
